Sandbelt Reciprocal Clubs
Melbourne has the most illustrious and unique selection of golf courses of any city in the world, with an amazing cluster of eight vintage layouts in its suburban sandbelt, all dating from the 1920’s or before, many of which were designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie, arguably the most influential course architect of the twentieth century.
Six of the Melbourne Sandbelt courses are rated in the top 20 golf courses in Australia, four are rated in the top 10.
Numerous professional tournaments have been hosted by the Melbourne Sandbelt clubs over the decades, including Australian Opens, Australian Masters, Australian PGA’s, Johnny Walker Classics, President’s Cups, World Match Play Championship, Australian Women’s Opens and World Cups.
The Melbourne Sandbelt reciprocal playing agreement allows all playing members of Yarra Yarra the opportunity of playing one round at each of the other seven Sandbelt golf clubs during the golfing year; Commonwealth, Huntingdale, Kingston Heath, Metropolitan, Peninsula, Royal Melbourne and Victoria golf clubs.
How does it work?
- Book up to four fellow members in accordance with each clubs booking arrangements and times.
- Upon arrival, each player is to present their Melbourne Sandbelt reciprocal card together with their Yarra Yarra membership or GOLF Link card to staff at the Golf Shop of the club being visited (some clubs may require additional identification such as a drivers licence).
- Pay the Sandbelt green fee ($85).
- Subject to availability, some clubs may permit Sandbelt Reciprocal Members to introduce one guest, a $110 green fee will apply.
This continues to be a great opportunity for members to experience some of the world famous Melbourne Sandbelt golf courses. Members are encouraged to utilise the clubhouse facilities when visiting these clubs.
