Women\u2019s Sunday Pennant Round 1 – Update<\/h4>\n

Yarra Yarra vs Kingston Heath played at Southern GC<\/strong><\/p>\n

Result \u2013 Yarra Yarra 5\/2 win<\/strong><\/p>\n

Round 1 of Women\u2019s Sunday Pennant commenced yesterday at Southern GC with Yarra playing Kingston Heath. A perfect day for golf and a good \u2018vibe\u2019 amongst the team and their caddies. A big thank you to our wonderful team members in our caddies \u2013 Anne, Megan RJ, Meg, Andree, Frank and Deirdre.<\/p>\n

Charlotte led us off yesterday in her Sunday Pennant debut \u2013 congratulations Charlotte! Charlotte played consistent \u2018par\u2019 golf and the few times she was in trouble she made good decisions and executed some great saves. This meant her opponent Louise Johns, an experienced pennant player, was under pressure for the whole match. As a result Charlotte had a comfortable 5\/4 win for the team.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Thomas playing at 6 brought her \u2018A\u2019 game to Southern GC. Up against a longer hitter, Rebecca gave her opponent Dayle Marshall a lesson in how to keep the ball in play, how to chip and how to putt. Rebecca was two up at the turn and continued to play her steady consistent brand of golf which resulted in a 4\/3 win for the team.<\/p>\n

We welcomed Janelle Brown back to the Sunday Team playing at number 5. Janelle played Simone Thompson who proved to be better on the day winning 2\/1 in what was a tight match, which could have gone either way. It\u2019s great to have you back Janelle.<\/p>\n

Vanessa was next on the tee playing at number 4 against Lynne Brown. Vanessa following in the footsteps of those who had teed off before her, again demonstrated the results of playing consistent golf. Vanessa was steady all day with all elements of her game in order. Vanessa brought home a comfortable 3\/2 win for the team.<\/p>\n

Lauren Goddard was next off at number 3 against Gracie Larsen which promised to be a tough tussle. Lauren played steadily and impressively from beginning to end. With drives that were straight and long and shots into the green allowed her birdie chances on every hole. Lauren won 2\/1.<\/p>\n

Playing at number 2 Mel came up against an in form Ashleigh Hall who played near flawless golf for the front 9 holes leaving very little room for Mel to catch her. Despite being 5 down at the turn Mel dug deep and made a solid par on the par three to extend the match. Missing her long time caddy Paul and a Sandbelt pre-season Mel will no doubt come back strongly.<\/p>\n

Shanaiah playing at number one, was up against former State player Olivia Kline with some wonderful golf sure to be played. Shanaiah\u2019s short game was superb all day with countless \u2018ups and downs\u2019 which brought home a comfortable 3\/1 victory.<\/p>\n

Well done everyone \u2013 it\u2019s wonderful to have a win on the board!<\/p>\n

Next week \u2013 we are at Commonwealth GC vs Victoria.<\/p>\n
