This matchup promised to be a tight affair which didn&#8217;t fail to disappoint. Mel was able to keep Thanh at bay on the majority of holes where she had to give a stroke by making par or birdie. Thanh&#8217;s short game was in order as she made putts to maintain the pressure on Mel. The match was square at 13, Mel made regulation on 14 going one up then squaring the 15th, birding the 16th and winning the 17th concluded what was a great contest. Mel winning 3\/1. Congratulations to both players.<\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 86th year of this major women&#8217;s event. The Centenary Cup was inaugurated\u00a0in 1935 to celebrate the centenary of Victoria. The trophy was donated by Mrs Nancy Marriot (Lady President 1932- 1937).
