On Sunday, 17 January 2021, the annual Yarra Yarra v 13th Beach Interclub event was held at Yarra Yarra Golf Club. 32 players from each club competed. Before heading out, Captain Bruce Davison welcomed our guests and we were treated to a delicious lunch. The 13th Beach members were keen to see the changes that had been made since their last visit. They were all most impressed with what they saw. The vistas they experienced on a glorious afternoon were fabulous.

Although we had a home ground advantage, we were also well aware we had been locked up longer than our opponents. They had much more opportunity to prepare for the event. However we really didn’t need to worry too much, as our greens that were playing beautifully, were much too slick for some of our visitors. Thank you Clint Raven and the team.

For the fourth year in a row Yarra Yarra won the event. The Captain of 13th Beach, David Peebles, presented the trophy to Captain Bruce. Both Captains made excellent speeches about the importance of such events both on and off the course.

Robin and Mike Jellis were the winners for Yarra Yarra with 45 points, just one ahead of Dallas and Phillip Wickenden. Congratulations on those very good scores. The winners for 13th Beach had 40 points on a count back.

Many thanks to Jasmine Hobbs for her help setting up the event and to Travis Carpenter for his help on Sunday. And a big cheer to our hospitality staff who were complimented all day on their friendliness and efficiency.

Well done “Team Yarra”. We look forward to heading to 13th Beach in 2022.
