COLTS REPORT

ROUND TWO – PENNANT AT LATROBE GOLF CLUB
28 February 2021

Result – WIN 3 matches to 2

On a day of high drama at Colts/Men’s Pennant at Latrobe yesterday, undoubtedly the highlight was the debut of young 11 year old junior, Anton Kovacevic.

First off the tee, playing at No.5  against Kingston Heath’s Sam Tucker, on the 160 metre Par 3, Anton’s tee shot landed in the deep green side bunker while his opponent knocked his drive to 4 metres from the pin. Anton calmly got up and down to halve the opening hole. Dropping to 3 down, Anton birdied the 9th hole to turn only 2 down a remarkable effort against his more experienced 22 year old opponent.

The second nine was nothing short of amazing. After trailing all day, Anton levelled the match on the 17th hole. With Ezy Naidoo on the bag, the duo made the walk down the last after Anton drove 220 metres down the middle. What a feeling that must have been to take the match down the last!

But wait for it ! On the green, and Anton holes a 3-4 metre putt for birdie, his opponent misses his 2 metre putt and Anton wins the match.

Congratulations Anton and caddy Ezy Naidoo on a terrific start to a long and prosperous Pennant career at Yarra Yarra GC.

The events that unfold on the last, will be forever remembered by Anton’s father Vinko & the small band of loyal supporters on hand.

The Colts went on to win 3 matches to 2, with wins by young Corey Wakeman in a gritty one hole victory and our standout leader, Riley Stevens 6 & 4.

Jackson Green & Nick Rossato both lost tight encounters, 2&1 and one hole respectively.

After two rounds, the Colts are on top of the ladder, and the only undefeated team.

Many thanks to regular caddies for the lads, Greg Briggs, David Collett, Michael Rossato & Rob Draper. Welcome to the fold Ezy Naidoo.
