Yarra Yarra vs Huntingdale GC

Played at Metropolitan

Result: Yarra Yarra 3 Huntingdale 4

For the first three rounds of the pennant season we have had great golfing conditions, namely no rain!

This week we were at Metropolitan GC playing against Huntingdale. Huntingdale remains one of the most competitive teams in Division 1 and the Yarra Yarra team, as always, is ready to take on the challenge. The match went down to the wire with Huntingdale just getting their noses in front winning 4/3.

From the caddies………..

Charlotte led us off playing against Maddie Jukes. Charlotte showed ‘grit’ today having to play with her driving not up to her usual standard against an opponent who made very few errors. During the second nine Charlotte was able to apply some pressure however the day belonged to her opponent Maddie winning 3/1.

Rebecca played steady solid golf and hit fairways all day and putted well. A late charge by her opponent Sam White extended the match however Rebecca was too good on the day winning 1 up.

Mel in her match played consistent golf and was ahead all day against Huntingdale’s Kalista Do. With an ‘eagle’ on the 17th hole Mel convincingly closed the match winning 2/1.

Janelle’s match against her opponent Helen Gubbels was an interesting game characterised by a ‘to’ and ‘fro’ of winning of holes with only three squared holes in the match. Although her driver was not her best friend today, Janelle fought with her usual toughness playing some excellent short shots to stay in the match as long as she could. In the end, succumbing 3/1.

Vanessa played well against Claudia Rubtson. Vanessa’s general play was solid however the difference on the day was on the greens where she missed opportunities which Claudia was able to capitalise on and take the match 3/1.

Lauren played Trinity Francis on Sunday and had a terrific victory 2/1 against a very steady and talented opponent.  Lauren’s short game was on fire – her chipping and putting in particular were exceptional. A highlight was a magnificent eagle on the 4th where she hit a very very long drive followed by a lucky approach and a 20ft putt. Congratulations to her on a fantastic round.

Shanaiah was very evenly matched against Lisa Teo today. Shanaiah drove the ball well all day but her putter wasn’t as kind as she would have liked. Lisa’s putting was first rate and went on to win 2&1.

Thank you to our President Danny for coming along to support us.

Next week we play at Huntingdale vs Commonwealth.. 10th Tee at 8.50am
