Posted on: 23 May
Congratulations to Graham Taylor on winning the Herbert Darvall Trophy for 2022.
The Herbert Darvall is considered the second most important event on the Men’s calendar at Yarra Yarra with the event contested over 36 holes of stroke play.
Graham won with wonderful scores of 74 and 69 nett, 143 over the 36 holes and has won the right to the Herbert Darvall winner’s tankard for the next 12 months.
Herbert Darvall was Club President in 1911 and 1912, and Club
Captain in 1913 and 1916, when the Club was still at Rosanna. In 1937 he donated a cup to the Club as a perpetual trophyfor an annual competition which was to be known as the Founders’ Cup. In 1953 the Committee revised the conditions of play to run as an aggregate handicap stroke event to be played over two consecutive Saturday rounds.
The winner is entitled the right ‘to have the trophy tankard filled at the expense of any member, at the cost of two shillings and sixpence, but not more frequently than once per day.’ The Board has since ruled that the cost will remain at 25 cents.
