Members attend the 150th Open

Yarra Yarra was well represented at the 150th Open with former pennant player Ben Campbell playing – and sadly missing the cut by 1 shot after an unfortunate double bogey on the famous 17th hole in the second round – and about 15 members present, many staying together at University Hall as kindly arranged by Peter Duffy.
A good time was had by all, but none more so than by Michael Dole and Ezy Naidoo who less than 48 hours after Cam Smith’s sensational claret jug winning performance in the 4th round, found themselves teeing off at 3.40pm on Tuesday 19 July 2022 on the Old Course in a Scottish heatwave.
Mike and Ezy were successful in the public ballot for tee times on the first day they were available post the conclusion of The Open. Their scores are not a matter of public record but suffice to say that “Fore Right” would have been an appropriate shout for their – understandably nervous – first hole tee shots, which were witnessed and recorded on video for posterity by myself.
Congratulations to Mike and Ezy who had a wonderful day together at the Home of Golf.
