This highly sought-after prize was contested between defending holders Andy Church/Tim Fry and brothers Ben/Toby Pinwill on a pleasant winter’s day.
Ben & Toby 2 up after 2 thanks to Ben’s par/birdie start however things steadied with four halved holes. After dropping to 3 down after 7 Andy & Tim fought back with both contributing wins on 8 & 9 to see a tight match at the turn.
Toby took advantage of his shot on 10 with a par[net 3] win, an excellent half from both sides with pars on 11 and a win on 12 from Tim had the final only 1 the difference and for the taking on the 13th tee.
Ben & Toby were slightly steadier at this crucial stage with wins on 13/14/15 closing out the match 4 and 3.
The final was of a very good standard from both teams and played in an excellent atmosphere and spirit – well done to all 4. All retired to the Members Lounge for a well earned Guinness or two.
Congratulations to Ben & Toby on a great win – they were never down in any match throughout the whole event.
Well done to Andy & Tim on a excellent effort to reach the final again.
