Practice Facility Update

Posted on: 22 October

The groundstaff have been hard at work over the past two weeks completing key stages of the Practice Facility redevelopment, with excellent progress across all areas.

The surrounds of the short game area is closed to be fully turfed, and the space is looking fantastic. The area at the rear has been mulched and will be planted out over the coming weeks, further enhancing the landscape and presentation.

Installation of the 4-metre-high safety fence along the McGuinnes Road entry has also commenced. Once complete, this fence will provide important protection for vehicles entering the Club from stray golf balls.

Following the completion of this fence, the practice range will open for short irons only, using temporary mats. Longer clubs will be permitted once the large safety fence is installed later in the year. It’s expected the range will open in the next two weeks, with confirmation and further details to be circulated soon.

The short game area, where the green has recently been seeded, is progressing well and is expected to open in mid-December.

Additional works across the facility include:

  • Bunker shaping completed on both the range and short game areas, with sand to be added to the fairway bunkers prior to opening.

  • The range fairway being mown down to its preferred height and regularly topdressed.

  • Target greens sprayed with dye to enhance visibility.

Planning for the all-weather practice facility is also advancing, with the project now progressing to the tendering stage. The Club anticipates completion of the building in the first half of next year, adding a year-round practice option for members.

The transformation of the practice facility is nearing an exciting stage, and we look forward to welcoming members back to enjoy these upgraded amenities very soon.
