Twilight Golf & Dinner Review

Posted on: 27 March

After months feeling the effect of Covid-19 last night the Clubhouse was rocking.  The Pymble team were dinning with their Yarra Yarra opponents prior to the annual Pymble Yarra Yarra Challenge while 53 members and their guests enjoyed their final night in the 2020/2021 Twilight 9 and Dine season….and what a night it was!

For the first time this season the competition moved away from a shotgun format back to the traditional staggered  tee time format due to the Pymble Challenge practice round being played.   I had forgotten what it was like coming down the 18th in the moonlight.

There are pros and cons for both formats, coming in all at the one time is great socially and the staggered  tee time start  gives players who cannot come early, a chance to play. Next year…who knows …maybe a mixture of both. But I would put my hand up for the return to the Black Flag on the 18th and/or the 9th………whatever the competition may be.

Members and their guests enjoyed good conditions on a well prepared golf course. Once again, during the introduction of guests by their member hosts, there were many comments made about how great the course conditions were, a very positive testimony to our ground staff..

And how good was the food!  An assortment of tasty Thai dishes and a mouth watering dessert. Congratulations to our Chefs who continue to set a very high standard in their meal delivery.   Our Yarra Yarra staff as usual  were wonderful, their level of  service ‘with a smile’ is the envy of all Sandbelt golf courses.

The teams that took our the prizes for the Gentsome competition were:

The winners  on 54 Points
Simon Peake, Annmaree Peake, Ian Coltman & Judy Buchan

The Runners Up on 53 points
Karan Smith, Anne Gibbon, Leoni Mather & Ron Mather
