Men’s pennant round 4 report

After suffering two heartbreaking losses in the first two rounds of the season and a shellacking in round 3 at the hands of Metropolitan, the Men faced Rosanna GC on their opponent’s home course in a must win encounter.
The weather was uncomfortable with rain falling all day, in humid conditions.
Rod Macintosh returned to the team playing at No.7 and despite playing some excellent golf was beaten on the second extra hole. LOSS 20th
Riley Stevens playing at No.6 had an early set back, but fought back quickly and took control of the match at the turn and ended running out an easy 4 & 3 victor. WON 4 & 3
Jarrod Harris play at No.5 with father, Geoff on the bag, had a titanic struggle all day. Leading for the fist half of the match, Jarrod found himself one down with three to play. A courageous fightback saw him grab victory on the first extra hole. WON 19th
Daniel Krall playing at No.4 with first time pennant caddy, John Jennings, controlled his match from the outset. Daniel run out a handsome 4 & 2 victor for his first victory in the senior competition. A phone call to his elated father, Rob, resonated across the course. WIN 4 & 2
Shane Feldman playing at No.3 with Leo Lui on his bag, established an early lead, and despite some solid golf from his opponent, Shane was able to grind out a decisive victory. WIN 2 & 1
Bradly Hallam, playing at No.2 finally succumbed on the 24th hole. Brad struggled all day with his short game. Thanks to David Standfield for caddying. During the past week, Brad played four solid rounds in the South Australian Open Amateur Classic, having made the cut. LOSS 24th
Phoenix Campbell, playing at No.1 also had a successful campaign in the South Australian Open Amateur finishing in the top 15. Young Nick Rossato was on the bag, to gain some valuable experience. The match was tight early, before Phoenix showed his class sinking a 4 metre birdie putt on the 15th to win comfortably. WIN 4 & 3.
RESULT – YARRA YARRA defeated ROSANNA 5 – 2
YARRA YARRA move from 7th to 5th on the ladder.
ROUND 5 – YARRA YARRA v. LATROBE at COMMONWEALTH GC in another must win encounter.
Thanks to the supporters, Bruce Davison & his wife, Malcom Slade & his wife for travelling to Rosanna despite the inclement weather, the players appreciate the effort.
