Green Restoration Works
Posted on: 16 August
Dear Members
Earlier this year the Board completed a new Strategic Plan which outlined the strategic goals for the club over the next five years.
This Strategic Plan included the strategic imperative of “completing the Renaissance Plan”. However, to complete this plan of restoration and renovation of our wonderful course it will require some disruption to normal play. Most of the large-scale work has been completed but there are still six more greens left to restore to complete our course restoration works.
Our original plan was to do two greens in 2022 (17 and 18) and two in early 2023 (2 and 7). Renaissance have indicated their current availability and recommended that we complete the restoration of all four greens at the same time. The benefits of doing four greens at once includes maximising the availability of Renaissance, cost savings in relation to equipment use, and a reduction in the period of disruption.
Commencing 23 August the next stage will be implemented with the following works undertaken:
- Restoration / Renovation of the 17th and 18th green complexes including bunker work
- Removal of sand splash and thatch on the 2nd and 7th greens
These works will include all 4 greens being lifted and will require the following course set up:
- The 17th and 18th holes will be closed until they are safe to re-open
- Temporary greens will be in place on holes 2 and 7
- The 3rd hole will be played from the forward tee
- The 19th hole will be in play and will be played after the 13th hole
- The 9th hole will be split into a par 4 and par 3 to allow for a 18 hole layout
It is envisaged that these works will be completed in approximately 6 weeks with all greens back in play in early October.
The following changes will be made to the golf program to accommodate these changes:
- All timesheets will be 2 tee starts to accommodate the temporary layout
- Major golfing events will be rescheduled where possible or cancelled if this is not possible

Changes to tee time exchanges
- Commonwealth Golf Club
The Commonwealth Golf Club tee time exchange is currently on hold until 2023 as Commonwealth have closed 9 holes for restoration works until February 2023.
- The National Golf Club
The new tee time exchange with The National will remain in place over the the period of our course restoration work and the days are stipulated below
– Tuesday mid-morning
– Sunday morning
- Huntingdale Golf Club
The tee time exchange with Huntingdale will be placed on hold during our restoration work and will recommence at the beginning of November 2022.
We hope these changes will still provide all members with a positive golfing experience and we look forward to being able to pay all the newly restored holes in mid-October.
Happy golfing!
