1. HISTORY
The trophy commemorates R G Ball who was a Member of Committee from 1929 to 1931 and President from 1932 to 1945, a total of 14 years, encompassing the difficult years of the Depression and the Second World War. He was appointed a Life Member in 1946.
2. EVENT TYPE
- Honour Board and Perpetual Trophy
3. COMPETITION
- Male winners of the twelve Medal events (July – June) will compete, as drawn, in a stroke handicap event with the best net score the winner.
- The competition will be played on the blue course.
4. ELIGIBILITY
- Open to Male Life, 7 Day, Young and eligible Junior Members.
5. TIES
- In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a play off at a time determined by the Golf Committee.
- In the event of a further tie the winner shall be determined by the GA countback system, applied to the play-off round.
6. ENTRY
- Winners of the twelve Medal events (July – June) will be invited to play in the event. Only players who advise the Golf Shop by the required date of their intention to play will be eligible to compete in the event.
7. HANDICAPS
- Handicap will be the daily handicap on the day of play.
- The maximum handicap shall be 36.
8. DRAW
- The random draw for the event will be made from those players who have advised the Golf Shop of their availability.
- The order of play on the first tee shall be as per the draw.
9.PRESENTATION
- Presentation of the R.G. Ball Trophy will be made on Championship Day. Following the event, the club will provide hospitality for the competitors and caddies.
